I’ll keep the review short and concise. My first impression of the book was good. I thought that anyone striving to improve their sleep quality should have read it. But after reading the article Matthew Walker’s “Why We Sleep” Is Riddled with Scientific and Factual Errors I’m not sure anymore. It seems that in the first chapter alone there are an unproportional number of uncited papers, misleading citacions, wrong percentages and factual errors. The book is now being cited as a source in various papers despite not having the save scientific accuracy of published papers.
I don’t have the knowledge nor the time to disprove the contents of the book or the article, so for the time being I would say not to read the book and look elsewere, and even if you read it be wary of the citactions, charts and percentages. Always do your own research outside the book or consult a specialist before making changes to your sleep schedule.
